Setting foot in the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, the site of 81 fierce days and nights of battle in 1972, every participant was deeply moved by the stories of the thousands of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for national independence. Here, the group respectfully offered incense in memory of the heroic martyrs. Through documentary footage and the guide’s narration, everyone was able to relive those harsh yet heroic historical days, gaining a deeper appreciation for the peace they enjoy today.
Vinh Moc Tunnels – A Marvel Beneath the Earth
Continuing the journey, the group visited the Vinh Moc Tunnels – a unique military construction that showcases the unwavering will and ingenuity of the Vietnamese military and people during the resistance war against the United States. The deep, narrow tunnels and cramped rooms, once the living and fighting quarters of many generations, moved every visitor profoundly. The deeper they went into the tunnels, the clearer they felt the sacrifice, courage, and indomitable spirit of the people of Quang Tri during those difficult years of war.
This journey was not merely a sightseeing trip but a profound lesson in history, patriotism, and a sense of responsibility. All members felt the sacredness of the places they visited, gained a greater understanding of the losses and sacrifices of their forefathers, and came to value their present lives even more.
